Mental Case 2 Now Available

Wednesday, 9th November, 2011

After years in the wilderness, Mental Case 2 is vaporware no more. It is available now from the Mac App Store.

It is a free upgrade for anyone who previously purchased Mental Case 1.9 in the Mac App Store. Mental Case 2 requires Mac OS X 10.7 Lion, and will retail at $29.99.

There are countless new features, but some of the more obvious ones are that you can manually order notes and stacks, you can format text, and you can have as many facets ('sides') in your notes as you like. For more details, see the Mac App Store entry.

Mental Case Flashcards HD version 4.3 is now in the App Store. It is a free update for current users of the HD version, which supports both iPhone and iPad. This version adds support for downloads from Quizlet.com, in addition to FlashcardExchange.com. Quizlet and Flashcard Exchange are amongst the largest repositories of study cards on the web, and we are very happy to be able to offer access to these sites through the iOS versions of Mental Case.

New Mental Case Web Site

Friday, 11th March, 2011

If you are reading this, you will already have noticed that we have a new web site for Mental Case. It has been designed from the ground up with Wrinkly Pea Design, and we are very happy with the new look. The old site served its purpose, but the new one has a much more professional feel, and we hope you like it.

Web site done, now just that little thing of a certain Mac app...

Mental Case in the Mac App Store

Thursday, 6th January, 2011

Mental Case has arrived on the Mac App Store. You can now choose to purchase via our web site, or via the Mac App Store. The price has been reduced, and is currently the same on the Mac App Store as the full priced app on our web site ($19.99). There is no longer student pricing because we have reduced the full price to the student level.

Where should you buy your Mental Case license? Good question. We recommend buying through the Mac App Store. It not only makes purchasing simpler, there is also another big advantage: we have decided to make version 2.0 of Mental Case a free upgrade for those people who purchase version 1.x in the Mac App Store. Version 2.0 is currently under development, but should be out later in 2012. We intend to only make version 2.0 available via the Mac App Store. Anyone who buys Mental Case 1.x in the Mac App Store now will get version 2.0 free.

We have recently moved all of our support to mentalfaculty.tenderapp.com. This means that if you signed up for our user forums, you will need to sign up again at mentalfaculty.tenderapp.com.

Tender is a very powerful support system gaining in popularity, and we think the effort will be well worth it. All future forum questions and emails will be channeled through the Tender site. The email addresses for support remain unchanged.

How We Made the 3D Card Browser

Thursday, 1st July, 2010

More technically-inclined readers may find it interesting to read how we developed the 3D card browser in Mental Case for iPad. A tutorial on MacResearch.org details the process, and covers some technical areas in depth. There are lots of pretty pictures, so even non-technical readers may enjoy it.
